Dr. Renaud first studied at Queen’s University for his PhD, where he performed research on one major lineage of the placenta, trophoblast cells. These cells are the interface between the mother and the child during pregnancy, and are often the root of pregnancy complications. He also studied at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, before moving to London’s Western University where he works as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. He currently studies preeclampsia and intrauterine growth restriction. In developed countries, these common complications can lead to medical emergencies; in less-developed countries they can spell death for the mother or the child. His hope is to contribute to this important and growing field, leading to better outcomes for pregnancies throughout the world.
